When you receive your graphics there will be three layers to each piece.

The graphic is sandwiched between the "backing layer" and the "mask layer".

The "mask layer" is used to stabilize the graphic when the "backing layer" is peeled away during application and is the last layer to be removed after installation is complete.

The "graphic layer" is the graphic to be applied.

The "backing layer" is the protective layer for the sticky side of your graphic.

Adhesive Backed Vinyl Application Instructions (Dry method)
  1. Clean surface well to remove any dust and oil.
  2. Without removing the backing, place the graphic exactly in the position it is to be located.
  3. Tape graphic into place using masking tape on the corners as in fig.2.
  4. Measure twice for accuracy.....step back and see how it looks!
  5. If installing on a door or side panel that has a crease, or is curved, place a piece of masking tape side to side on the crease or near the center of the curve as shown in fig.2. This will act as a folding point during application. (see first note below)
  6. Remove the top corner tapes (for side applications) and fold graphic down to near the "hinge tape" being careful not to pull the hinge tape.
  7. Separate the backing paper from the graphic down to the fold and cut the backing paper away to expose the sticky side of the graphic. Be careful to only cut the paper and not the graphic, a sharp razor blade works best. CAUTION: Do NOT let the graphic fall against the surface ! At this point you should be holding the graphic (with the "mask layer" still attached) away from the surface.
  8. Using a squeegee, carefully squeegee the graphic down to the surface, starting at the center and working your way outward. At this point half of the graphic is applied to the surface.
  9. Remove the hinge tape and the remaining corner tapes.
  10. Fold the remaining graphic up and remove the remaining "backing paper" Again, Do NOT let the graphic fall against the surface. Using a squeegee, carefully squeegee the graphic down to the surface, starting at the center and working your way outward.
  11. At this point the graphic is installed. Carefully remove the "masking layer" by slowly peeling it back from a corner.
  12. Wa-La, Graphic installed!

NOTES:

  • For graphic installations on flat surfaces the procedure is the same but you can run the "hinge tape" vertically if easier. Just make sure it folds easily and doesn't wrinkle or pull.
  • For larger graphics such as door and roof numbers, it is helpful to have someone assist with installation. Holding a large section away from the surface and using a squeegee at the same time can be a handful!
  • If you have any air bubbles, puncture them with a pin or the point of a razor blade and squeegee the air out. Tiny bubbles will disappear, on their own, over time, with the heat of the sun.
  • If you would like, before step 8, you can spray soapy water (or just water) to the sticky side of the graphic, allowing you to reposition the graphic 2-3 times. Make sure to squeegee ALL the water from behind the graphic before removing the "masking layer".
